Glenn A. Gould ’72
Glenn Alan Gould passed away after a long illness on December 18, 2023 in Suffield, Conn. Glenn was born August 8th, 1949, in Boston, Mass. to John and Grace (Manes) Gould. He was the youngest of four children. Glenn was known for his athleticism. He was an outstanding baseball and football player at Holliston High School (Mass.), where he graduated in 1968. He met his beloved wife Linda (Oakes) 6 weeks before they graduated from high school, on a first date to go scuba diving in a deep pond near Provincetown, Mass.
Glenn excelled playing football at Maine Maritime Academy and was the team’s co-captain his senior year. He was highly respected by his teammates and his classmates. Upon graduation in 1972, Glenn sailed with United Fruit and Army Corp of Engineers for a few years before coming ashore to work as an executive, directing global operations at Texaco’s world-wide headquarters in White Plains, New York, where he traveled internationally, making friends wherever he was.
Glenn leaves his loving wife Linda of more than 50 years, two sons Scott and Christopher, and two grandchildren Gavin and Delainey Gould.
In his retirement, he was a wonderful caretaker for his two grandchildren. Glenn loved watching his grandson playing sports. Gavin Gould proudly wore his grandfather’s #32 on his football jersey.
Glenn achieved the rank of Commander as a Select Reservist in the US Navy in the Merchant Marine Reserves. In May (date yet to be determined) Glenn will be honored with a celebration of life at the local American Legion where he was a member. He was an honorary member of the Boston Marine Society, Association of Military Officers and Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association.
Glenn was known for his many friendships. He always had a smile for everyone and felt blessed.
