Joseph M. Poltrack ’88
Joseph M Poltrack Jr., 80, of Winterport Maine, passed away on February 17, 2024, at St Joseph Hospital in Bangor Maine, after a short illness. His loss was completely unexpected by his friends and family.
Joe, as he was known, was born on December 15, 1943, to Joseph and Sophie Poltrack in Stamford, CT. He went to grammar school in Stamford and Joe graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in 1961.
Joe went on to join the US Naval Reserve to serve his country after high school and thereafter served on active duty in the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Constellation aircraft carrier and numerous other ships and locations. He became enchanted with the state of Maine after being stationed here for a period with the U S Navy and Maine became his permanent home. After retiring from the Navy in 1994, Joe went on to work with the Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine, a position that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Joe was predeceased by his wife and best friend Isabelle M. Poltrack of 34 years. He is survived by his sister and her husband Carolyn and Mike, nephew and niece, David and Abbygail; cousins John and Henry Kapteina; his stepdaughter and son in law, Sherry and Blain Brodeur, his stepson and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Cecelia Ames; and numerous other cousins and relatives.
Burial Internment Services will be held at the Central Maine Veterans Cemetery, in Augusta, Maine on March 4, 2024.
