Bernard W. Seile ’54
AUGUSTA – Bernard W. Seile, 88, passed peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, with his wife and family by his side at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Benedicta, ME on May 13, 1934 the fifth of seven children of the late Frederick J. and Veronica M. (Casey) Seile.
Mr. Seile was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1958 followed by several year’s in ship building including chief engineer at Sun Ship and VP at Bull & Roberts.
He and his wife were the owners and operators of several Print Shops for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Seile was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and was a member of Abnaki Council #334 Third Degree Knights of Columbus and Abnaki Assembly #346 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time with his family and capturing the special moments in their lives through photography. Above all else he enjoyed sharing his faith.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jeanne (Veilleux) Seile of Augusta; five children: Valerie Chadwick and her husband Paul of Augusta, Sharon Seile of Augusta, Ruth Cronin of Lewiston, Gloria Doyle and her husband Timothy of Turner, and James Seile and his wife Heidi of Loveland, OH; 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, August 11, from 6-8 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Ave., Augusta. Following cremation, burial will be in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Dr., Augusta.
