S. Robert Silverton ’89
S. Robert Silverton, 90, passed away Monday July 8th. Born in New York City, he was raised in Springfield, MA. Bob received a B.A. from Lehigh University, an MBA from WNEU, and a Masters of Science from Maine Maritime Academy. He served in the Army in the 1960’s, and again in 1993, earning the Meritorious Service Medal for his dedicated longtime service. Bob was a pilot for Allegheny Airlines, which became part of US Airways, and retired in 1990. He was an army pilot, a deck officer on army vessels, and sailed with the Merchant Marines as a 2nd Mate after his retirement from the military. Bob was a former member of the Samuel D. Sherwood Lodge of Masons and a member of Sinai Temple. He leaves his wife Shirley Silverton, his son William Silverton, his daughter Carol (Robert) Mohr, his two stepsons David Petshaft and Michael Petshaft and eight grandchildren. His graveside funeral service will be Thursday July 11th at 11:30 AM at Sinai Memorial Park in Springfield, MA.
