Gregory D. Hall ’81
BELFAST — The family of Gregory Daniel Hall, 64, regrets to announce his untimely passing on Dec. 20, 2023, at his home.
Greg was born on March 16, 1959, in Belfast to Daniel Irving Hall and Carol Jane Hall. After graduating from Searsport High School in 1977, Greg went on to graduate as a deck officer from Maine Maritime Academy in 1981. After a successful three-decade career as a maritime officer, Greg retired to enjoy a life of family, friends and relaxation with his wife at his farm in Monroe and his camp on Ambajejus Lake.
He was known for living life to its fullest; enjoying sports, making good food, watching his theatrical and musical family perform, exploring the locations and histories of the Maine north woods, riding his motorcycle with his wife and kids, listening to his favorite music and loving his family with an indescribable passion. His greatest solace was watching the sunset at camp with a cigar and whiskey in hand and his faithful companion dog, Abol, at his side.
Greg was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Carol; his aunt and uncles, Micky, Thomas, Brenda and John Fraser; as well as his cousin, Jason Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Harris Hall; daughter, Katherine Hall and her husband Jonathan Wood; son, Ian Hall; beloved grandson, Walden Theodore HallWood; uncle, Steve Hall and aunt Ann Hall; cousin, Carrie Hall and her family; brother-in-law, Tom Harris and family; and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be greatly missed by lifelong friends Doug, Rusty, and Joel.
A private gathering of family and friends will be held this summer at camp “The Reach” for the celebration of his wonderful life.
