Capt. Herbert D. Robinson USCG(Ret.) ’67
Captain Herbert Daniel Robinson, Jr. United States Coast Guard Retired, 77, of Wrentham, Massachusetts crossed the bar on February 2, 2022.
Born in Boston on July 27, 1944, to the late Judge Herbert Sr. and Vera (Haner) Robinson. Herb graduated from Marian High School in Framingham and continued on to Maine Maritime Academy. In the Spring of 1967, he earned his degree in Marine Engineering and married Jane Lundquist. The newlyweds then set a course for Houston, Texas, to begin their life as a Coast Guard family.
Captain Robinson dedicated 27 years to maritime safety and security before retiring in 1994. His priority was always to ensure a safe haven in the storm for the sailors and family under his watch. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at the Cape (Eastham) on family vacations and in the search for big fish.
In addition to his parents, Herb is predeceased by his brother George and sister Susan. He is forever loved and missed by his family: his brother John Robinson; his wife of 55 years, Jane Robinson; their sons Alan (Amy), Mark (Jennifer), and Mathew (Kathryn) Robinson; their grandchildren Sarah Van Wyck (Aaron), Thomas, Natalie, Ryan, Joshua, Michael, Valerie, Brayden, Bradley, and Aniyah Robinson; and their great granddaughter, Charlotte Van Wyck.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday February 9, 2022 from 5PM-8PM at the R J Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham, MA.
A funeral service will be held at R J Ross Funeral on Thursday February 10, 2022 at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA 02532 from 1:30-1:45, Procession will depart from Wrentham at about 12:00 PM.
Masks are required in the funeral home.
