What is your favorite class at MMA so far?
I loved Human Geography I. That class allowed me to observe the countries and cultures around the world in new and insightful ways. It also helped me to look at current events in new ways to see how they happened, who they impacted, and why. It was really enlightening!
Why did you choose MMA?
I chose MMA because of the unique opportunities that it provides for my future. From hands-on exposure to co-ops, MMA provides students with a career-driven education unlike any other.
Which professor inspires you? Why?
Professor Sorich is truly unique. Having had a career in business and in the Navy, he is a teacher with incredible experiences to share. His wealth of knowledge and his thoroughness makes learning with him truly special.
Beyond classes, what is your favorite extracurricular activity you participate in?
Outside of classes, my favorite extracurricular activity is Band! I’m a percussionist in the Maine Maritime Academy Pep Band, and I’d like to help start other music programs on campus, like a jazz band.
What is your dream job?
My dream job, in the future, is to eventually be teaching the very same things that I’m learning about now. I’m going to need professional experience first, and I’m not sure where I would be teaching, but I know that my future lies in a classroom.
Do you have any advice for incoming students making their decision to attend MMA?
My advice is pretty simple: don’t be afraid to make friends! It can be intimidating to meet new people, especially during New Student Orientation, but the reward is definitely worth the effort. The friendships you make in college are the kind that can last the rest of your life. So, put yourself out there– make friends!
