Day 25: Fire Training
Sunny, SE Wind at 5.5 kts, 76°F Air, 81°F Sea
Training continues today as Alpha company is split into two. While one half continues training on electrical currents, the other begins a refresher on search and rescue. The goal of this is to allow students to review searching for someone in a smoke-filled room with varying obstacles.
Contrary to the training received onshore, it is up to them to develop their own plan for searching and adhere to it, rather than being given a set route and method by Fire Fighting training assistants. For this training evolution, students went through crawlspaces below the decks in storage with obstacles like chairs, crates, and hanging ropes to add an added level of difficulty.
Due to the Training Ship’s limited connectivity, blog postings are delayed and are not intended for real-time communication. To communicate with your student, please send a message to his or her issued e-mail address.
