Maine Maritime Academy Search Committee Announces Formal Launch of Presidential Search
CASTINE, Maine, Tuesday, August 20, 2024 – Wayne Norton, Chairman of the Maine Maritime Academy Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee are excited to announce that they have selected RPA Inc., a nationally recognized executive search firm which marks the formal launch of their Presidential search.
RPA Inc. is one of the leading executive recruitment and consulting firms for higher education institutions and nonprofit organizations and will bring an expertise in candidate identification and the selection process to Maine Maritime Academy’s search. Their recent placement successes include the President of SUNY Maritime College and the President of SUNY Delhi. RPA Inc. will join the previously established search committee: Chair and Trustee S. Catherine Longley; Board of Trustees Chairman Wayne Norton ’86; Board of Trustees Vice Chairman John Webb ’83, representing alumni; Trustee Miles Theeman; Trustee Wendy Morrison ’85; Student Trustee Anthony Hall ’26; Dean of Faculty Laurie Flood ’93, representing the faculty; and Director of Campus Safety & Facilities Peter Stewart, representing staff.
The search process will begin in September with RPA Inc. engaging with constituent groups, on and off campus, to better understand the institution and the opportunity. These conversations will be an opportunity for the Maine Maritime Academy community to share their thoughts with RPA Inc., which will greatly assist them in their recruitment of a candidate pool. The firm will be creating a survey as a vehicle to provide feedback in addition to the discussions and MMA will establish a web portal to post updates and receive information.
Over the coming weeks, more information about the search timeline, the schedule for conversations with RPA Inc., and opportunities for stakeholder and community involvement will be provided.
Any questions regarding the search should be directed to Rhonda Varney at rhonda.varney@mma.edu
