Major at MMA: Nautical Science
Extracurricular involvement while at MMA: Drill Team, Striker, First Battalion Adjutant
Employer: CSAA Insurance Exchange

Where has your career taken you since graduation?

I went to the University of Oregon Law School and I have been practicing law since 1987.

What is your current title and what are your responsibilities?

Attorney III. I am a trial attorney representing people who have insurance with CSAA (California State Automobile Association).

What piece of advice would you give to a student going into your field?

Know that, whatever you do after you graduate, the experience of going to MMA will help you to excel and find success at work. Don’t be afraid to take a risk and trust in your abilities.

How did the MMA experience prepare you for both your prior positions and your current career focus?

I sailed for three years, so I was well prepared for the duties of a deck officer. The leadership skills I learned at MMA and at sea have helped me deal with judges, attorneys, and our staff.

What are your goals for the future?

I want to attend my 40th reunion in 2020 and retire in 2025. After I retire I am considering a career as a teacher.
